I also found this resource on the Bentley Publishers wiki for BMW 3 Series (E46) Service Manual - 1999-2005 (B305), their recommend tightening torque.. I don't torque those- there is a step that hits the head when it's secure. Work your way around snugging them until. you feel them all shoulder- and stop. Because it's rather easy to pull those threads out, and there's no need for it to be any tighter than 'snugged so the shoulder's on the head'. t.

The valve cover should be torqued down to a measly torque of 6 ft-lbs (or 8 Nm). This is a very small torque, which should be applied using a 1/4″ drive torque wrench. If you use a 3/8″ drive torque wrench (or god forbid a 1/2″ drive torque wrench), you won't be able to achieve the precise and miniscule torque required to properly..
